The mahi bite in Islamorada is heating up and delivering solid action offshore! Recent trips have brought in consistent catches of schoolies, with gaffers making a more frequent appearance as water temps stabilize around 82°F. Most fish are being found in the 600-900 ft depth range, especially near weedlines and floating debris—keep your eyes sharp for birds, especially frigates working solo. Trolling ballyhoo, squid, or small lures has been the go-to method early in the morning, while later in the day, switching to chunking near structure has paid off when the sun is high. Anglers using light tackle are enjoying nonstop action, especially when doubling back on floating weed patches or trolling the edges of color changes. The dolphin are chasing aggressively, often showing up in pairs or schools. For those running farther out, look for temperature breaks and bait activity just past the humps. Pilchards and live cigar minnows are excellent if you're looking to entice a bigger bull. While mahi have taken center stage, bonus catches of skipjack tuna and even a few scattered wahoo have added excitement to the day’s haul. Overall, it’s a great time to be offshore in Islamorada. With clear water, active weedlines, and plenty of mahi showing up, the next few weeks should continue to offer prime fishing conditions.

I had an amazing offshore fishing trip in Islamorada. We left the dock early in the morning and headed out to the deep blue waters of the Atlantic Ocean. The weather was perfect, the sun was shining, and the sea was calm. It didn’t take long before we started getting bites. Caught some tuna and snapper during our offshore fishing trip!

Florida Keys - Monroe, FL Fishing Report on Invalid Date

Fishing near the edge of the reef has been improving since the passing of a few cold fronts. Not very cool weather wise, however the fishing has been warming up. Plenty of Yellow Tail snapper in 90 feet of water near the Eagle Wreck. Kingfish, Black Fin Tunas, and Sailfish are showing up around other local wrecks too. We have had good catches in these areas using live Ballyhoo, Pilchards, and Cigar Minos. Depending on conditions bump trolling, and kite fishing techniques have worked equally well. Further offshore we have caught some lost Mahi and larger Black Fin Tunas at the Islamorada and 409 humps. Live bait or trolling has been producing plenty of rod bending action.
